In September 2019 our Slovak team visited the most eastern part of Slovakia, which borders on Poland and Ukraine in the north and east respectively. The region is coated by the typical Carphatian landscape with original virgin woods in the National Park of Poloniny and it boasts the precious Orthodox and Greek Catholic wooden churches, which ornament the area. Many of them are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Easter is one of the most significant Christian holidays in Slovakia. It is a moveable holiday, so its date changes every year.In Slovakia believers commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday and they celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus on Easter Sunday. Slovak Easter is associated with many customs, traditions, symbols and traditional decorations.
Slovakia is divided into 28 regions. Every region has it own national costumes, songs, traditions, meals… Folk culture plays an important role in the history of our country. It is important to note that all forms of traditional dress (kroj) are a result of centuries of development.
